Well, Hello!
Thanks for stopping by my little pocket in the world where I hope to share information about nutrition, recipes, and my own personal experiences restoring my body and my family's body's to optimal health.
If you've poked around my website a little you may have noticed the quote on my home page by Steve Jobs. It doesn't really have anything to do with nutrition, so you might be wondering why it's on my homepage!
"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they who change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do." - Steve Jobs
This quote is so inspiring to my passion for healing with food for so many reasons. First, for so many years we've been fed so many lies about food from our government, telling us that lowfat or nonfat will keep you from getting fat, that fortified breakfast cereals are part of a complete breakfast, that cows were meant to eat corn... I remember when I was little watching my mom feel so guilty over eating an avocado because it was so high in fat. I have countless friends who still think egg yolks are bad for you. Not everyone knows that those things aren't true!
Not fitting in with the social "norm" of what the majority of the world thinks would make me a round peg in a square hole. That's ok with me! Call me crazy, call me a rebel (as I stand on a box waving some locally grown, organic kale in the air!), because I want to maybe be the first to tell you that most of the "facts" we know about food are false... because, even though I may not know most of you, I love you enough to care about your health! And I hope to change the world, helping one person heal at a time!
In good health,
Tara
